David L. Smitherman

Prior to joining Porter Law Firm, David worked at several well-known Houston law firms as well as at his own firm for over 13 years. David has extensive experience with real estate transactions, real estate development, curing title matters, leasing, and general business law. Licenses in Texas in November 1994, David is a member of the State Bar of Texas and its Real Estate, Probate, and Trust section. David has served for many years on the board of directors of a local, nationally-renown real estate trade group organization as its director of legislative affairs and was chairman of REIT PACA, A Texas political action committee that represented the political needs of the Teal real estate investor community.

David’s greatest sense of professional accomplishment comes from seeing his clients’ real estate deals close and become profitable pieces of their portfolios. In his free time, David enjoys spending time on the golf course and is a budding fanatic of baseball sabermetrics. David loves history and visiting historical places, and believes he is a seasoned chef (even if no one else does).
