Job Specifications/Requirements:
Must be well-versed in bankruptcy, federal and state court procedures and filing requirements, including e-filing.
- Assist attorneys in researching and following local court rules.
- Manage hard copy and electronic case documents.
- Draft, issue, and manage discovery, including organizing, bates stamping, and maintaining voluminous document productions.
- Assist attorneys with motions, hearings, depositions, and trial prep.
- Draft routine court filings with minimal attorney supervision, including motions for relief, bankruptcy proofs of claim, subpoenas, summonses, writs of garnishment, notices of appearance, and pro hac vice admissions.
- Order and review public records searches, including title work, UCC and lien searches, and corporate filings.
- Assist attorneys with foreclosures, including preparing notices and publications.
- Perform administrative duties, such as calendaring hearings, court, and discovery deadlines.
- Perform basic legal research on Westlaw and Lexis.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree with ABA paralegal certification or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal studies, preferred
- At least three (3) years of Bankruptcy and civil litigation work experience
- Knowledge and understanding of legal principles and practices
- Experienced in all areas of paralegal duties
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
- Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
- Ability to work flexible and/or fluctuating work hours
